UN Peacekeeping Tour


In commemoration to the International Day for UN Peacekeepers, the Diplomatic League in partnership with the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and United Nations Peacekeepers of the Philippines had an educational tour of the UN Peace Operations Facilities and Philippine National Police Headquarters last 29 May 2015.

The tour started out with a briefing given by the Philippine National Police at their Headquarters about Philippine Safety and Peacekeeping measures undertaken by the PNP. The PNP officers extensively discussed theories and practices they adopt. They also shared how the PNP was coping with the changes of crime and peace maintenance in the country. Embracing different methods and measures was emphasized to be very important but it shall not be to a point wherein the basics are forgotten. After the seminar, the officers offered an exclusive tour at the PNP Museum, where different artifact in Philippine peacekeeping was kept with outmost security. At the end of the event the Diplomatic League was graced with a sumptuous lunch at the PNP Museum.

After finishing the tour and Seminar at PNP Museum the Diplomatic League went on with the next part of the Educational Tour. Privileged to travel with the official DFA bus the attendees proceeded to AFP Peacekeeping Operations Center in Camp O'Donnell, Capas, Tarlac City. The first part of the tour was a seminar conducted by the Senior Officer and Head of the Camp Captain Ancan. He explained extensively peacekeeping operations and the different efforts by the Philippines in honoring this noble agreement with the United Nations. After the seminar, the tour proceeded with their presentation of UN Peacekeeping Armory. Wherein the students are able to witness and hold firsthand the equipment and peacekeeping devices they use in operations. They also explained they manner of communication among UN Peacekeeping camps. After the presentation of the armory, the Diplomatic League was directed to their open area. Here the UN Peacekeepers presented drills and conducted different simulations of their actual operations. It was such a privilege for the students to witness firsthand the operations of Peacekeeping.

The Diplomatic League would like to thank the Officers and members of the Philippine National Police, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the United Nations Peacekeepers of the Philippines for making the Study Tour of UN Peace Operations Facilities possible. It is such a great honor and opportunity.
